Gmail problem

My son and I both have Gmail accounts and he uses my computer sometimes. When I go to the gmail page it comes up with a sign on page with his user name. There is also an option to click to log on as another user. When I do that it shows both our profiles but when I click on mine it defaults to his. If I keep on doing then it will usually eventually to to my profile but it can take 10 or more attempts.
Does anyone know of a way round this? I'm assuming that if I removed his profile then that would solve the problem but I don't know how to do that. Either that or I need to make my computer 'forget me', if you know what I mean.

You've got your machine to remember your session (it doesn't clear out web browser cookies when you turn off). So once you log in, you stay logged in.
The options are:
Make your browser not remember your settings (tools -> options, then privacy or similar under there usually).
Open an "incognito" or "privacy" session when opening his account (tools -> InPrivate browsing for IE, file-> New Private Window for Firefox, can't remember where for Chrome).
Set up a separate user on your machine for him. It won't take up much space and makes his stuff completely separate from yours.
For the new user, just search for "create standard user" and it should come up. As a standard user he won't be able to install/uninstall applications, but will keep his profile separate from yours, for web browser settings/history, freecell scores, music library etc.
Which option suits you best depends on how often, and how much hassle you're willing to live with!

He doesn't live here and normally only visits about once a week. If I make my browser not remember my settings will that cause any problems when I use other internet sites?3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
As above, create a separate user account for him. I have a guest account on my machine for just this purpose. People can do what they want on it without affecting any of my settings. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Another simple trick is to use a different browser for your guest
Maybe 'Google Chrome' for you, 'Internet Explorer' for him?0 -
still struggling with this and I'm a bit of a technophone which doesn't help! Why is it that when I can see 2 accounts and I click on mine it keeps taking me to his? Also, how do i create a separate account for him when he is listed with mine? Is there a way of removing him?
~Thanks for all replies so far.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

That's another problem! Internet Explorer stopped working on my laptop ages and and haven't been able to fix it. I've just got Google Chrome at the moment.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

Just to add to that, the keyboard shortcut combination Ctrl-Shift-P is a quick way to invoke this option in Firefox and Internet Explorer (and, for all I know, perhaps in other browsers too).Open an "incognito" or "privacy" session when opening his account (tools -> InPrivate browsing for IE, file-> New Private Window for Firefox, can't remember where for Chrome).0 -
in Chrome its
Ctrl+Shift+N0 -
The "separate account" macman was talking about setting up was for Windows not a gmail account. Find the windows control panel and within that find "user accounts" and set one up from there.0
