Balance transfer advice needed

Thanks for all your help. I have 60 days to make my balance transfers before I lose my promotional rate. I think the only way forward is to use my hubbies credit card for all our cash purchases leaving the cash in the bank to pay off the overdraft and then transfer the balance from his card before the 60 days are up.
Does that sound like a plan?0 -
Yes, but will you spend £1,800 in that time though? If not you could try a sneaky overpayment on the BT. Not too much though as it's generally against the T&Cs.cornish_donkey wrote: »Does that sound like a plan?
Other options might be a cash advance on hubby's card and then BT straight to your new card. This will double your fee (do the maths to see if it's beneficial), but crucially could damage his (and yours through financial association?) credit file/history so take this into consideration before going this way.
Which card(s) does hubby have?0 -
I was hoping for the same thing but they don't do it. Amazingly just got accepted for an MBNA card though, and they do, so give them a try! I only got 10% chance the MSE eligibility checker as well so it's not always right. You may as well keep all your credit footprints to around the same time x0

Hubby has an Aqua card. This is the first normal credit card we've had in the household for years (we've been credit building on Vanquis the Aqua)
This probaly sounds ridiculous but I would be worried to apply for an MBNA card because they are part of Santander and I have been in trouble and dishonest with them in the past which is why I'm trying to put thing right with bad credit cards.0 -
No they aren't, but they will have access to any bad info on your credit file (for [up to] the last 6 years) when they search you.cornish_donkey wrote: »I would be worried to apply for an MBNA card because they are part of Santander
You see this is why I suggested expanding on your "circumstances" earlier. Putting your cards on the table from the outset stops people wasting their time suggesting approaches that clearly won't work/help.and I have been in trouble and dishonest with them in the past which is why I'm trying to put thing right with bad credit cards.0 -

Sorry. I'm a little embarrassed by my actions in the past.
Before I had my kids I took out a loan with alliance and leicester and didn't pay it back, changed address a couple of times and never heard from them again. I checked experian and equifax 6 years later and it wasn't on my file so my hubby and I have been credit building ever since.
I'm worried alliance and leicester (Santander) will remember me if I apply to them.
Hope that makes sense0 -
I just tried applying for an MBNA card and didn't get past their eligibility check so at least now I know.0
