    Can you find another reseller?

If yes, take the reseller to court for illegal withholding of funds. (Assuming the value of the item is significant).

Have you responded on Twitter to ask the consumer why they supplied a 4-year-old-wrong address, and didn't notice the wrong address on the multiple notices they were sent prior to despatch?

Sounds like it's time to find a new reseller - one that treats both sides fairly?

Thanks Shaun! Unfortunatley according to the reseller, if it isn't in the Distance selling act it doesnt exist. Personally I thought if a customer or seller had rights in the Sales of Goods Act they are not "removed" unless specifically detailed, but apparently I'm wrong...

More like they do not like bad press. Apparently the customer was going mad on Twitter at them as we would not send another personalised item for free to her new address. Personally, I am from the school of if it's your fault - deal with it. They are from the school of "if they shout the loudest we will deal with it"

Sales of Goods Act still applies to goods sold at distance. Who is the reseller? I'd be interested to see what they've been saying on Twitter

You have done nothing wrong - you have sent something to the address the purchaser have requested it sent to. It's not your responsibility to check they still live there. And (being more cynical) the wrong address may well be a friends/relatives and they are hoping to get it free.

The reseller is just taking the lazy way out as they are the ones getting grief, and it won't cost them (bar any commission) if they order you to do a refund. If they want to refund, it should come out of their money. I would have thought you've got a good case for small claims court
