Thanks for all the advice, I've discounted the Dell and have looked at PCSpecialist and they do come out a bit cheaper for a very similar spec to the Chillblast machine.

Where is a good place for buying just parts? I may work it out for a self build and just see how much cheaper it is (even though it terrifies me!).

For parts there's www.dabs.com from where I bought the parts for my computer (because everywhere else had sold out of the cpu I wanted) but they worked out good.

    www.ebuyer.com
    www.scan.co.uk

I was really nervous before building this computer myself, and it is a little scary if you're the nervous type. But there are Youtube videos, and I asked a few questions on another computer forum in preperation. And it all went smoothly, no dramas. :)

As long as you get the right cpu/motherboard together, then everything else is simple, and everything only goes in one way, so it's pretty idiot-proof.

Make sure you earth yourself when plugging the parts in, otherwise you could well end up blowing something up due to static electricity.

Don't do something daft like fit the processor fan upside down, or that would fry!

These days its a lot more difficult to do something stupid. 10-15 years ago and it was almost impossible to actually build something that worked without exploding!

PCPartpicker allows you to put a shopping list together and will show you the cheapest price from the main sites (Scan, ebuyer, Amazon, etc) for each of the components:

    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/

Although I quite fancied building my own, I checked when buying mine and found out that I was paying about £60-70 for the privilege of PCSpecialist building it for me, although you are of course getting the warranty and peace of mind that it will all be working (hopefully!).
