Car Insurance - not declaring speeding ticket

Hi All 18 months ago i got a speeding ticket, when i renewed my insurance i didnt inform the insurance company as i was under the impression that i'm not legally obligated too. If i have an accident and claim, will this count against me, could it invalidate my insurance? thanks

You are legally obligated to.

It's a criminal offence not to (as well as breach of the terms of your policy)
