    Sales of Goods Act would cover you. The items must be as described. This can be a verbal description or an advert. It can also include any representation made to you about the product or any sample.

    The DSRs aren't the only avenue that might be available for a return. As I wrote earlier, but you haven't answered yet:
    Do the website terms and conditions state they refer to store purchases? If they are online only, it's no help. If they claim to be their general t&cs though you may have rights for a return under those.

    Alternatively, if the design service misrepresented the size of the lights you have a case of mis-selling, and are also entitled to a refund. Do you have a copy of the design done?

    The op new the design in home was a to scale and not actual size, how it looks in real life can always be different than expected but that is not the stores problem.

    Unless the scale on the design was incorrect. Then they could be returned.
