CPP cheque received - should i reject it?

Options
Hello

First time on here so be gentle

I received a cheque for £117 for CPP this morning. According to the letter the amount is based on me paying a premium of £80.00 on or after Jan 14th 2005.

My claim is based on me taking out Card Guard with HSBC and i know this dates back to well before 2005 but i do not have any paperwork. CPP actually wrote to me without me having to file an initial complaint.

A quick serach tells me that they have only been requested to pay back post 2005 but i have found other sites that say there is a chance that they will pay back prior to this.

My question is to stick or twist? Should i accept the £117 or should i reject it and try and claim back what is owed from back in the 90's?

Thanks for your time :-)

Since the CPP refund scheme only ever covered the period post 2005, rejecting the CPP payment is a waste of time as you will get no more from the scheme.

If you want a refund of the earlier payments, you need to make a completely separate complaint to the lender who originally sold you the insurance. In your case this is HSBC.
  • Thanks for your reply. So my new complaint needs to go to HSBC rather than CPP?

Yes send your complaint to your bank for before 2005 .
I have two one with Citi.that has been upheld and one with Egg not been given an answer yet, they quoted 8 weeks for reply.

Today I had two cheques from them under CPP total over 250 so that is a nice bonus .

My surname initial is B so they may be doing the claims alphabeticaly
