What percentage of household income do you spend on food?

The % is to irrelevant unless people are going to tell you there income..which is bit private really.
Unwittingly some have already told you there income..
I don't know if it's irrelevant if you just want a basic method of comparison without going into too much personal info.
The thing that really skews the figures is children.
My household percentage is likely to be low because everyone eating in my household is also earning money to pay for it but others might only have two earners yet six mouths so obviously a higher percentage. That may make it look like they're spending a lot of money on food but, who knows, they could be spending less than me if you looked into the figures properly.

Work out your annual spend then divide that by your total joint income and multiply by 100.
So, if you spend £50 a week and your annual joint income is £20,000 then you'd work it out like this:
50 x 52 = 2600
2600 / 20,000 x 100 = 13.
Answer: 13%.0 -
In the UK an average 11.6 per cent of all household spend went on food in 2012. For the lowest 20 per cent of households by equivalised income it was 16.6 per cent

but thats the answer to a different question
Question was as a %age of income , not as a %age of spend
At the moment I am in the lucky position of being able to save a bit , so my spend on food as a % of income is lower that my spend on food as a % of total spending.0 -
For me and my family of four last year we spent 16% on everything from food and toiletries to eating out and takeaways.
so that's £425 a month.My Motto in Life:
