In the UK an average 11.6 per cent of all household spend went on food in 2012. For the lowest 20 per cent of households by equivalised income it was 16.6 per cent

As a rough calculation, I think we probably spend about 7% on food.
It could be 8% if I have underestimated the amount we spend on takeaways.0 -
As a household of two adults and four children, we spend, on average, around £70 per head per month. And that's for everything. Food, drink, toiletries, nappies, laundry, everything. And that would equate to roughly 7 or 8% of our joint incomes.0

about 16% and it was a higher percentage as I worked part time until recently. Neither of is in minimum wage jobs but not a huge amount more, and I thought we were fairly frugal at about £450 per month for a family of 4, including toiletries, cleaning stuff etc. We mostly shop at aldi going to supermarkets for offers and top ups. Does not include take away or the occasional meal out (once or twice a month at a Toby)0

I suspect ours is getting on for 20% but some of that won't be food as that includes toiletries cleaning nappies and pet food. That's about 500 a month for 5Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Les than 1% on actual food shopping (stuff that goes into my fridge and cupboards). That gets seriously multiplied when I factor in eating out!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Ours comes in at about 7% too but that's simply what I spend on buying basic groceries for home cooking and general domestics.
Meals out, booze, take aways I count as our 'entertainment' budget because they're nice treats but could be cut back on if we needed to save.
It's quite an emotive subject. I'm a canny shopper that hates waste, hates being ripped off and wants to eat healthily. I also have transport and live near a range of shops. I can make choices but many don't have that luxury.0 -
I think it must be about 8%. maybe a bit more.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
