Cutting a long story short. Pulled out of purchase of Flat A 6 weeks ago due to being messed about big time. Now buying Flat B and heard nothing from solicitors for 3 weeks.
1) Phoned em 4 times in total to be told they're busy & they'll ring back. They never do.
2) emailed reception & my solicitor 3 times asking for info. No replies.
then...
yesterday got letter from em saying 'You have pulled out of the purchase of Flat A. Please find attached the survey for future records'
THE SURVEY THEY'VE ATTACHED & SENT BACK IS FOR FLAT B !!! The flat that we are waiting for an update on !!! (we never even ran a survey on the first flat...). They were told and have acknowledged that Flat A's sale was dead.
So god knows what they're up to. They have written to the sellers of Flat B asking for utility details etc but since then there's been nothing. The sellers of Flat B are getting very bugged about it so we're very worried.
idiots. anything I can do about this ? I've got copies of all correspondance.
They appear to have also billed us for searches on both properties.

If they carried out the searches on both properties, you will need to pay for the searches on both properties.
When you instructed them, you should have received a leaflet or similar with their Terms of Business. In the document, it should detail the person responsible for handling complaints. You need to contact that person
If they give you the usual brush off, I would inform the person on the phone that you are asking to speak to that person as part of their formal complaints procedure.
You might decide you can't cope with dealing with them any more - they do sound pretty inept.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

they apparently never ran the searches on the first one. In fact I've got an email from the solr saying 'let's hold them until we hear about....'. After that we pulled out & informed them.
They're a pretty big firm & the experience we're getting is almost like we'd expect if we rang a big call centre.
Even when they answer the phone, I say who I am & what it's about & they either interrupt or cut you off mid sentence to put me through to someone else who I then have to explain again who I am etc.
First solicitor is on sick leave, so we've had another guy. Thsi time we've got a third one who is signing on behalf of the first one !

Our buyers are using a firm who appear to be run via a call centre and they are extremely slow and difficult to get info from.
I'd bin em off and get a proper firm in.0 -
Get on and complain now. And dump them.
Obviously, if they didn't carry out searches then you don't pay for them. My sol always asks for search fees before they do them. I think it's the first sign of commitment for a buyer, iyswim.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
