Offered redundancy/New job in company

Hi I was offered redundancy a short while ago but now my boss says there might be a job for me. I am unsure of the legalities of this and whether I am now not due my redundancy (it's the same job but with more responsibilities/work, possibly for less hours paid). This would be fine but I would be placed in a fairly hostile environment - my new boss tried to get me fired last year and has never forgiven his boss or me. He is still angry at me and has lost his temper with me a couple of times recently. I am sick of this behaviour and can't face sharing an office with this !!!!!!. I was thinking of asking for reduced hours and seeing how that went for the one month trial period but would that affect the amount of redundancy I could claim? I am really worried about getting another job. They have messed other people around with paying their redundancies.

This guy sounds like a bully and needs dealing with. Is there an anti bullying policy at work?0

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I'm new to posting so sorry if this answer comes a little late.
I was made redundant from a large financial company late last year, but had the option to stay in a different role (same area). I turned it down, but I remember there was a 'try before you buy' policy at the company in those situations, where you could try the alternative role for a month, if you didn't get on you could still take your redundancy. As far as I was aware, your redundancy package remained the same if not better for having an additional month of service.
I suppose this depends on the size of the company and what redundancy procedures they have in place. Can you contact HR?
I also agree with the other poster, sounds like bullying to me. I hope it all works out for the best, good luck.0 -
3 months grace in the new job is allowed, for you to turn around and say "no, I'll take that redundancy package instead"0

Not by the law, you get 4 weeks trial for a potentialy suitable alternative by default. Unless you negotiate for longer say training required.
3month an to get out you would have to resign.0 -
to answer your question, reduced hours WOULD affect your statutory redundancy pay as its the last contract that it is based on.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
