Balance transfer problems

Hi, I want to balance transfer my 3 subprime cards to barclaycard but having problems. Barclaycard won't do it for balances less than £250 and none of my balances are enough, so I thought I could put Aqua and Vanquis onto Cap one then there would be enough to transfer to Barclaycard. But Vanquis account number is not working (says invalid?).

Any ideas?

Thanks

What exactly are you filling in?
Normally, the long 16-dig card number is needed for a BT, not the account number.

Sometimes a BT can be done as a bank transfer in which case the sort code and the account number will be needed that are used for payments to the CC. The card number is used as a reference in this case.
  • The account number is stated in my documents as the long card number. But I put it in on cap one BT page and it says invalid. I've edited my original post now to give a bit more info - basically I want to BT Aqua and Vanquis to Cap one, so I can BT to Barclaycard, who won't do it for less than £250. Lol, complicated or what!

It's a known problem with Vanquis, and there have been several reports on here on this subject. I believe the remedy is to do as grumbler suggests and ask the provider to make a payment manually.
  • It's ok, I did it by making a payment to Vanquis online with the Barclaycard instead. Not sure if this is cheaper or more expensive but oh well it's done now. Thanks
  • Argh problems now trying to pay the Capital One with Barclaycard - it tells me the payment was declined by the bank. Can't imagine this is the case as there is plenty of balance available, and I literally just used it 20 mins ago to pay Vanquis with no problems :-/

May I ask what you are trying to achieve by all these transactions?
  • I just want to balance transfer everything onto Barclaycard to avoid paying the high interest on the subprimes. But I can't balance transfer to Barclaycard under £250. Grr.

Unless you have 0% on BTs a Barclays, for such small balances wouldn't it be easier just to pay them off, at least some? Then, if you really want to keep the balance, just spend on your Barclaycard.

    ah should of looked:

If you already have a Barclaycard(s), you’ll have to transfer at least £100. And if you’re a new customer, the minimum amount is £250. The maximum amount varies depending on which credit card you’ve applied for.
