Halifax faster payment transfer - gone missing!

Hi folks, looking for some advice on this:

Yesterday morning, I tried to transfer some money to paypal using faster payments via Halifax online banking. I had some messages initially saying "your payment has been unsuccessful", so I left it 5 mins and tried again.

Everything then appeared to work ok, my account was debited and that was that.

It STILL hasn't appeared in my paypal account (it's usually instant), paypal are denying they've received it. Halifax are insisting that they've sent it.

It's worth mentioning that this was a payment that has been set up for years, no alterations were made to any details, and I sent a test payment later that same day which was received ok.

Can anyone advise? Thanks!

*Most Faster Payments will be received by the beneficiary within 2 hours, but you should allow up to close of business the next working day.

Time to complain to Halifax! Although by the time anyone reads your complaint I suspect the money will be safely in your Paypal account.
    What will your verse be?

Yeah, I had read that. I'm not convinced that this is the issue, though. Certainly, they were able to tell me that the payments had been "completed" (as opposed to pending), and that as far as they were concerned it's paypal's fault. Somewhat predictably, paypal are denying any faults at their end, and are passing the buck back.

I'm wondering if there's a "fallback" facility for any unsuccessful payments or similar, cos at the moment, my money's in limbo!

My first thought was that you had put in the wrong account details, but you later said it was a payee that had been set up for ages and you sent a further test payment that went through fine.

    It's a mystery. :(

EDIT: Perhaps a better thread title would have been "My money has gone missing"?...because as yet you're not in a position to apportion blame.[/QUOTE]

Will do, thanks for the awesome advice!

Yeah, I've been using the same method for years without a hitch. Only thing I can think of was that it was about 1 in the morning and they've been batch processing or something.. I'm at a loss.

Hi exactly same problem with my son and his bank. Early this week and after midnight. Bank gave the transaction code to forward onto Paypal and Paypal have frozen his account while they look for his money!

No, and the Halifax are clueless.

Someone had posted a link to a pdf on this thread about the whole payments side of things, but it now appears to have disappeared. Any ideas where that information is?
