And as you still have the papers, if you haven't already done so, just check if the PCN number matches up with any of the reference numbers given in the Rossendales letter - then you'll know for sure but I would agree with C-M that it's very likely to be the old VCS event.
Seems a lot of the parking companies are resurrecting old PCN's lately - times must be hard - my heart bleeds for them ............ not
Yes I am usually pretty organised and on the ball. Thanks for noticingIt just never occurred to me that a company could be so desperate as to be raking up cases from nearly 2 years ago, so just assumed I'd done something 'wrong' again!
And yes, the references on the Rossendales letter do correspond to the old VCS stuff. Another thing I should've checked, doh!
Oh well, thanks again!0 -
Ok that is sorted, now if you do get a ticket for parking either on private land or council then come back to us, don't take on the old advice for anything. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

They are obviously on a purge at the moment. ..I have got a letter too from Rossendales chasing after an alleged PcN from VCS in 2012.
I have no knowledge of any ticket and repeatedly asked them for proof that any incident took place, and to date have never received anything other than the letters from VCS and Roxburghe etc. They seem to expect I should just take their word for it and hand over cash..its all very dubious given that I wasn't even in the same city that day and had never been in that carpark. I have invited them to bring this matter to court just so they can enlighten me with some factual evidence but I just get the same threats along the lines of 'we may consider considering advising our clients to consider the consideration of whether to take legal action against you '. It would appear providing evidence doesn't apply to them.
Your case is pre - protection of freedoms act which makes a difference in respect of your responsibility and your right if appeal to Poplar.
I will be ignoring and looking forward to more letters.0 -
@consumerator
I'm assuming from your post that the alleged event was post 1/10/2012.
VCS do issue court claims but not often e.g only 22 small claims issued between 1/10/2012 - 31/9/2013.
But keep all the threatograms and if you ever get a Letter Before County Court Claim or actual Court Papers come back to the forum and create a New Thread if you need help.

My case is pre October 2012. I got a letter out of the blue, and I have never been in that car park prior to the letter.
I have asked for details, times, how long parked, footage and they have refused to provide any information other than to persist in sending letters in various guises threatening this that and everything.
I would be quite happy in going to court as I think this is just a scam. I have taken legal advice so am quite comfortable in my position.
I am wondering whether VCS has sold a load of cases to Rossendales hence the letters be sent out. If that's the case, then it's Rossendales that have been scammed0 -
The debts do not exist and are not 'sold'. Rossendales are just a debt collector acting for VCS to scrape the barrel to try to get some victims to pay up after all.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
