Evening all
Been through this site and just want to make sure I'm doing the right things.
I've had loans and cards over the last 15 years from HSBC, Citi financial, Liverpool Victoria, MBNA, Morgan Stanley, Virgin, Santandar, Barclaycard, and Goldfish.
I use the letter kindly provided by someone and fill in the blanks. Only problem is I don't have many account numbers etc. Shall I just give my name, DOB, and address and they will then search their systems for me or will they insist on account numbers?
Also if they do find me, they should then send everything they have on me? Once I review this then I can decide whether I have a claim or not. I know two of them I definitely have as I was told that the card would be refused unless I took the insurance.
Then I write back with the complaint letter and then wait.
Many thanks
Alan

Your description of the general procedure used to investigate whether your financial affairs are still on file with your lenders is generally correct. However, do be aware that anything older than six years ago may have been destroyed and you make it doubly difficult by having no account numbers to refer to.
Your complaint that you were told you had to have the insurance is "hearsay" for which you can provide no evidence. It is therefore a very weak complaint. Look for other valid reasons, preferably verifiable ones, to stand any chance of success.0 -
