new ipod battery

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a newly fitted ipod battery (classic 5th g) needs to be primed as in emptied completely and recharged fully a few times? Cheers

I believe you wouldn't have to. But you should drain and fully recharge the battery a few times through out the year in order to calibrate the battery

    No they don't.

And the the above statement about calibrating the battery is wrong! Lithium batteries should NOT be fully discharged.

With Lithium batteries it's all about the charging. In an ideal world you should avoid discharging them completely as this with shorten their life. To get the absolute best from them you should use them until the have about 40% left then recharge them to 95%.

For an iPod just use the charger provided.
