Can anyone tell me how to use a Magimix M200 nespresso machine PLEASE?

It's the MANUAL version, I can only find instructions for the Automatic online.

Someone has given me one of these machines - it was in the back of their garage and all manky, but I've cleaned it up, and almost got the hang or how it works.

The bit that has got me beat is the steam shusher thingy. If I push the lever on top to the back position, it just squirts scalding hot water into the cup/jug of milk - all over the kitchen first time I tried, which was exciting.

There is a switch with a picture of a cup on it on the right-hand side of the machine, but it doesn't stay switched on, so I can't work out if this has something to do with the whole process - I don't have enough hands to hold the jug of milk, press the switch AND move the lever.

Sorry if I seem dim. I haven't had a coffee machine in years-and that was one that used loose ground coffee and filter papers. I had to give it up due to excessive caffeine intake - I was a student at the time.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Mine is a different brand but to use the milk thing you have to flick the switch on the side and the green 'on' light flashes orange. Only when it stops flashing and stays orange do you move the lever from neutral to get the steam out of the milk thing. I never bother though tbh- I heat the milk in cup in micro and if feeling really flash I have a battery frother. The milk nozzle on the machine needs to be cleaned quickly otherwise the heat sets the milk on it and it is a pain to get fully clean.

might also be worth googling for a manufacturer's instruction booklet for it - after having it for 5 months I can now use the microwave as OH decided to 'file' it away somewhere lol

I have downloaded the one I have found - same booklet from many sources - but it seems only to be the manual for the automatic version, with no explanation at all about the steam thingy for my model.

Just had a quick shifty and take a look at https://www.nespresso.com and highlight "machines" the third option "you have just bought a machine" .In there is Troubleshooting and solutions scroll down and there is a list of machines, M200 not M200A (automatic) under concept. All this talk of coffee I'm going to put the kettle on!
