A Halifax bank account for Clarity card?

Do you have to have a bank account with the Halifax to get a Clarity credit card?

Off on my travels later in year, seems to be the number 1 choice for overseas ATM's and credit card purchases. If you do need an account I think I'll leave it, the Post Office one will do, being IMO next best for me. Caxton currency card can see to the cash withdrawals.

It reminds me a few years ago everyone latching onto the Nationwide card, for free use abroad, and opening bank accounts with them for that purpose. Me included...

No, but they are more likely to approve an application from an existing customer with well run accounts.

Thanks. Worth a go then, kills to birds so to speak: for ATM 's and credit card buys. Wonder how long these terms will last 'though?

Currently have MBNA card..£5 charge for cash dispensers . Always, without fail, pay in full each monthly statement. Haven't a Halifax account.

I applied online for a Clarity card recently. Never had a Halifax or BOS account. Didn't have to provide any ID and was given about £10,000 credit limit. Card and pin arrived within the week. Simples!

The clarity hasn't really changed since it was released (in 2010 I think). The Lloyds banking group (who own Halifax) also just released foreign transaction free Lloyds Bank credit cards (avios MasterCard and American Express account) as well, so they obviously have no problem offering it.
