Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. :j

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- enter in my mystery shop results onlne - the site was down when I tried before!!
- send everyone with pack ups
- make storecupboard dinner - chilli con carne tonight!
- do online banking
- update spreadsheet
- do quidco clicks
- send off OH bank charge letter
- get OH to ring Tesco for insurance quote - ours is due next week anyway
- not increase my debt in any way
- be positive!!

Have a good day everyone, and LA I hope you don't quit your job today either!!

    Morning Hypno and everyone!

I have been on a diet since Monday, so have been trying to get myself organised so me and OH can be good!
    • I have prepared lunch already
    • I am working at home today so it will be a no spend day hopefully
    • I need to do a bit of shopping around as my OHs mortgage is due for renewal at the end of this month (got to get it in before the rate rise).
    • Dinner tonight will be out of the freezer
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Always trying to have NSD, so in order to get change for my jar I have to raid OH's bedside table, so:
    Today I will:
    1) do Piggy & Quidco clicks
    2) have a look down the back of the sofa/inside of sirs car for change
    3) clean the lamp for e-baying

    Hi,

Just thought i'ld let you know that I have just read that they are looking at increasing the mortgage rate up to 5.75% base rate TODAY!!!! so if you are looking at mortgages I'ld make it my priority for the day.

    Sorry to butt in.

Signed up to 3 paid survey sites.
Wrote letter to Amex giving dates of maternity and suggesting revised repayments (Amex are currently making me pay way more than the minimum payment so my arguement to pay less is fairly solid!)
Going to Lidl to get top up for shopping rather than Tesco
Going to go through OH's wardrobe to see what shirts fit him and what needs binning
    £4000 challenge

    Currently leftover - £3872.15

Hi all, today I have/ will..

    - brought lunch and all snacks into work.
    - been suffering with sore feet and decided to get some Scholl Party Feet for my uncomfy shoes, but instead have just bought a few of a cheaper version off eBay for a couple of quid each. Hopefully, this will also reduce the 'sore feet is an excuse to buy new shoes' urge ;)
    - going to pub tonight but am not going to take out any more money so can only spend what I have, and will try to find something cheap to drink.
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

It's quite probable given the warnings from Melvyn King on the Inflation figures, however I think a good portion of the deciding people are in wait and see mode...I'd hope that they don't, at the end of the day quite a number of people are in fixed rate mortgages, they should wait and see what the last four rate rises do to the economy...

    any way back onto topic...
    1. I should be having a NSD (think that's right?)
    2. I intend to cancel the PPI with the HSBC loan
    3. If I manage 2 then I'll need to find the cheapest PPI I can
    4. If my stuff arrives from screwfix I'll be fixing the car myself (£600 quote: £69 on parts and £12 on socket set (which I need for some other stuff too) so total saving = £519 :T )
Cheers for making me think about this stuff it helps as a newbie!

Also llisting yet more stuff on ebay!

And as always, trying to have a NSD.

    Hi hypno, hi all. Today:
    - tried to do a ciao survey, didn't fit their profile - but at least it said so quickly.
    - checked I paid my 0% former stooze card.
    - have transferred a £16.32 Amazon payment to a savings account for overpayment.
    - tried to pay my monthly CC (in full, as I do every month) but the net is slow today, it wouldn't go thru, grrrrr.
    - did a tesco order, to be delivered next week after I get back from a few days away HURRAY!!!! Expensive delivery day, but used a token that says double points - when I inputted, had to be over £50. Difficult these days (I used to spend £100!) but bought lots of value things and lots of dried foods that will keep. Astonishing.
    - am preparing for my finance meeting this evening, have done some work already on that today.
    - I have to collect my gas and elec useage figures and get them to npower.
    - I have to get to the bank and exchange spare change coin for "real money", lol.
    - I have to take stuff to charity shop.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
