Background
- husband on Incapacity Benefit long term and with a works pension after being medically retired. I get DLA at higher rate for mobility but nothing else as he's getting Incapacity benefit for us both (apparently).

Anyhow just heard (by phone) he has been passed as fit for work after his Atos medical and our Incapacity Benefit will stop end of April.

Not had paperwork yet to start an appeal as he has loads of health problems with accident at work, now arthritis too plus lots of bowel problems so not fit for anything really.

Looking online the Job Seekers allowance is £72 a week while we currently get £101 Incapacity - so will be down almost £30 a week.

I hope the appeal will win through but just like to be prepared for what we will be having coming in as I'm still trying to clear cards from years ago.

We own our own home but do get Council Tax relief.

Is the Job Seekers allowance for one person and should I therefore try and claim something myself - sorry don't understand half of this.

Not well enough to work myself either for many years but apart from DLA have not claimed anything in my own right.

Probably should wait for the letters to come but I hate uncertainty.

Whilst the appeal is being heard you can continue to get the assessment rate of ESA because your OH was transferred from IB to ESA.

You can be added to his claim if you do not have savings above £16000.

His pension will not be deducted from his ESA if it was ignored for his IB.

Thanks for the reply. Yes they took pension into account before but we still had 101 a week. Cannot wait to get letters so can see it all and start appeal.
It's scary when you think money will be cut and you don't know where you are.

No savings at all and trying to pay cards off from my DLA.
