Theatre weekend in London

Friends of mine want to go to London on the 3rd June for 2 nights to take in a couple of shows. The best Ive managed to find is either https://www.show-and-stay.co.uk which works out to 131.50 each including a show ticket to the Phantom of the Opera OR they can book the Travellodge at Londons Kings Cross for £150 for the two nights and then use lastminute.com for the theatre tickets.
Does anyone else know of any better ways to keep the cost down?

If you're not too fussy try getting a decent rate at the Regent Palace in Piccadilly. When we stay there we can walk to most West End theatres.

Whenever I go to London I always make my own hotel arrangements. We have stayed at The ibis excel in London Docklands last couple of times although it is about 40 minutes from the centre. If you're not too fussed about what show to watch you could get tickets on the day from the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square but you can only see what they have available on that day. If you want a particular show then I would book before hand. If you choose the Leicster Square option be aware of the booths around the square - they are not the official ticket sellers. The booth you wnat is in the far left hand corner of the square (opposite Yates wine bar). Have a great time.0

I think you will get a better deal if you book your accomodation separately - a room in a travel lodge, premier travel inn or even a b&B shouldn't cost the earth and if you should be able to get tickets to phantom quite cheaply now if you look out for deals on here or lastminute.com. Good luck!0

Also don't forget the dinner/theatre options which are available on lastminute.com they are excellent value.0

As stressedoutmum says;
Use the ticket booth in Leicester Square. 2 weeks ago we got Citty Chitty Bang Bang tickets for a Sat night for £25 each reduced from £50. (Blinding show - gom see it!)
Grab a coffee in Yates as well - BIG cups for £1.30, cheapest in the area0 -
