Just had a phonecall from Access to Justice
Options
At the latter end of last year I had a car accident which resulted in my car being a write off. The accident was the fault of another driver and I have since been fully compensated.
Anyway, as of today I received a call from a Company called Access to Justice (apparently linked to the RAC) who say I am entitled to £3000.00. They made me believe that there is £3000.00 cheque waiting for me if I say I was wearing a seat belt, and that I suffered a degree of aches and pains after the accident.
I asked to end the call and to give me time to investigate the Company, and said they could call me again this evening, where apparently I will be talking to somebody else who will ask more questions to enable me to receive this cheque.
Obviously I am extremely dubious about this call and would like to ask if anybody else has had similar experiences after suffering a car crash.

If you didn't suffer whiplash or any other significant physical problems then, morally, you shouldn't be trying to claim for injury should you?
This company is just looking to make a claim from the third-party insurer on your behalf and pocket a big fee. If you really think you deserve compensation for injury then claim it yourself from the TP's insurer. However as several months have passed then presumably you don't wish to or you'd have already done so.0 -

Where did I say I was going to make a claim?
I don't like receiving calls of this nature and wanted to find out more about the way these set ups operate.

I thought you were asking whether you should or shouldn't make a claim?
These claim companies get your details from some insurance companies and pass them a fee for the details. Then they try to pursuade you to make a claim even if you didn't actually have any injuries. I have had these type of calls in the past; I just say I wasn't injured and put the phone down. Disgraceful behavior by all concerned if you ask me. Personally I wouldn't have anything to do with them but a lot of people are tempted by the cash and commit perjury to get it.0 -
The chances of them being connected to RAC are very remote, they are just saying whatever they think will get you to sign up.
Interesting they asked you to say you were wearing a seat belt which if not true would be a serious offence to deceive a court0 -
Everybody and their dog's had dozens of these calls, whether they've been in a collision or not.0

For the first few, then the politeness becomes optional...
They always start very generically - "within the last three years". Oh, really? Do you have any more information on the date? Or the location? Or what happened? No? Oh, how odd. No, wait a second - that's because you're lying to me, because it never happened, you scamming little... hello? hello? Oh, they've hung up on me again. What a pity.0 -
You are probably turning down 2 or 3 grand of free money.0

Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no such thing as free money.
It is estimated that the average driver who bothers to insure his car pays an additional £90 a year to support people who believe in free money. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
