                    Good afternoon Techie Gurus,
I have a query that I hope you will help me with.
My daughter has had her little Aspire One Happy notebook for a couple of years now.
It does overheat easily, but on the whole it has been a very useful first 'computer'.
It has stopped working suddenly. I have had it on charge for several hours, but still no joy.
Is it likely to be something fixable? Is it worth fixing?
All help much appreciated.

            Try
unplug power connector, remove the battery, hold the "on" button down for 30 seconds.
Refit the battery, see if it powers up, if so re-connect the power plug.0

            Thanks for your quick answers.
Unfortunately, it is not coming on when plugged into socket with battery out . I also tried a different charger. I also tried holding down power button with battery out as directed.
 No lights, sound, nothing.
I am going to leave it plugged in with battery out for an hour and try your tips again.
Any idea what is wrong with it?
Is there anything else I can try, or is it the end of the road?
 Thanks again for your help.

I had an Acer Netbook which was several years old die because the charging port became loose and then seemingly detached. If you gently shake the unit can you hear anything you shouldn't?0

I had a similar problem with my A1 (model ZG5) - tried the post #3 stuff with no luck. Left it with battery out for probably a couple of months (too busy at work) and when I dug it out again and plugged in it came back to life!
Seems like the charging circuit software can get itself into a knot and draining the power (including any internal backup battery) resets it. Dunno, I'm no expert on the Aspire internals, but could be worth leaving it a few days without the battery, or even a day then try the post #3 stuff again.0
