Hi all, just a question,my local post office, from next month will charge a extra 25p,for using the prepay meter key,is this correct ? Or is it a con to pay for there new refurb ?
Seperate from that question what are there charged to having a pre paid key,do eon charge to have this service, would it be better having a bill, however they do them ?

    Surely you've asked them

And if you didn''t believe the answer you were given, you would have enquired at another local place you can top up.

Sounds like a con to me, but then I don't know nothing about it.
If you can get a credit meter, you'll save a lot more than 25p a week (or however often you currently top up). ;)

    Hiya LEEDASH,

I've got in contact with a colleague to check this, as far as I know we don't charge to use your pre-payment key at the pay points, so I'll let you know what he says as soon as I can :o

There is no extra charge to have pre-payment meters.

We don't charge to change your meters from pre-payment to credit, but we do request to do a credit check.

The unit prices on pre-payment are very similar to those on credit meters. There are other adjustments on credit meters such as paying via Direct Debit ect.

I'll be back as soon as I can.

    Hope that's ok.

    Helena :)

Right got a bit of an update on this.

If you're topping up with cash, this should always be free.

If you're topping up on a credit or debit card they may charge you to do this, they should say though and ask if you're happy to still top up like this.

Did you use a card? Or cash?

    Thank you

Nice try, but I'm sure you are comparing your prepayment tariff to your expensive standard tariff.

Credit metered customers have access to a vast variety of tariffs (even if you don't offer anything better, but I'm sure you do) that beats the pants off any expensive standard tariff.

It's not just the small discount for paying by Direct Debit (typically about 5-6% where offered), it's a whole variety of different tariffs including fixed deals.

Which the vast majority of people are on.

I agree that we do offer more tariff's for credit meters, all the tariff's can be seen on the best deal for you bit of the website.

[FONT=&quot]If you were to pay with a Monthly Direct Debit, instead of a percentage discount, we now give a cash adjustment off bills. This is £35 per year and is shown as a reduction in your standing charge. I understand you can't have this is you've got pre-payment meters.

You can still have the £5 per fuel per year if you register for paperless billing, even with pre-payment meters.

You can also still have the £20 for dual fuel, again even if you have pre-payment, these are paid to our pre-payment customers by cheque.

But we do only have the one pre-payment tariff.

    Hope this is clear.

    Helena

    Well advised.

Sounds like the PO are taking the mick!

I have never had to pay extra for a PayPoint top up at the Co-Op, even when using a debit card.

    Morning,

Thanks for the extra info, charging for a cash top up doesn't sound right to me.

If you need me to look in to it further, you can email all the post office details to the email address in my profile page.

    Thanks
