I took my parents to the airport this morning. You have to pay to use the drop off point. £2 for 10 minutes or £3 for 15. I was there for less than a minute. I think most people will be there for 2-3 minutes max. I don't really know how they can justify £2 for stopping less than a minute.

It's probably to get people to move on. There's obviously a massive amount of people arriving in any given day, you can't just have cars sat there for ages, it would get full up & clogged with traffic.0 -

If it's a business decision with the intention of raising money then they don't need to justify it.It's probably to get people to move on. They don't charge at Gatwick airport (yet) and the pickup/dropoff points there never get too clogged up.
They have wardens patrolling this area moving on any vehicles that are there for more than a couple of minutes.0 -
When we have dropped people off we have parked in the car park and they get the airport bus in.
The buses run every few minutes and it is all free.0 -

Well that's obviously a cost. They obviously want to make that pay for itself rather than just cost money.0 -
They charge a fee at my local airport, so now most everyone drops off outside the fee zone and walks the few hundred meters to the entrance.
Which as its a small airport means the tiny roundabout near the entrance gets well bogged down at times.
Think its 2 quid and even taxis have to pay it.63 mortgage payments to go.

There used to be a big free drop-off zone right outside the Terminal Entrances where the buses stop. They decided that this was a terrorist threat so moved the drop off point and started charging.0
