Options
I have decided to move from npower to first utility ....i am on npower dual fuel april 2014 tarif....i have decided to move to 1st utility on a 18 month fixed dual fuel tarif....my deal with npower runs out at the end of this month...first utility have told me that if i am in the last 40 days of my deal i wont have to pay any penalty for moving.....npower says this is not true and i will have to pay a penalty...who is telling the truth ?

I had a similar issue by leaving my existing supplier early... There is a new ofgen rule that you can leave a supplier within 39 days before the end of the contract with no leaving penalties...

Some fixed tariffs will have an exit fee if you leave before your contract end date. However, with many you are free to leave at any time. Under new Ofgem rules, if you switch 42-49 days before the end of your tariff your supplier cannot charge exit fees.0
