Harveys sofa nightmare - please help

Options
We ordered sofa from Harveys Furniture shop on 15 March 2014 and from that day on troubles have begun. There isn't anyway we can stop this order and get our refund. We have been in touch with Harveys everyday, but there manager is not returning any calls.
The reason we had to stop this order was because
our display unit company (not Harveys) couldn't not get the colour we wanted and also accidentally we had come across a review of sofa we had ordered, which is one star i.e. very poor, and this was more of a reason we have changed our mind.

Sofa's we ordered costs approximately 3300 pounds. My
husband got in touch with Harvey's on 27 March to stop this order. He was told by the store manager, that she will do this straight away and let him know. She came back a little while latter and said everything was okay and salesman who sold it to us will call us to confirm that too.

A week later we went to Harveys Stevenage shop to reselect
and the store manager said to us that she had bad news for us and she was unable to stop the order and therefore it will incur a charge and she also asked that did we not receive a call from the sales guy. When I said 'No' we hadn't, she said anyway that guy has left Harveys.

We gave her name and details of sofa we had re-selected and she said she will see what she can do. Next day she called and said that they will charge us 400 pounds to make a change as in twelve days they had already incurred these charges, even though delivery for this sofa is 15 weeks away and we had asked them stop the order just after 12 days.
She quoted us 3900 pounds for the sofa we had selected and she said that the price includes 200 pounds refund i.e. they had already deducted 400 pounds from our 600 pounds deposit. The same sofa in another Harveys shop is 3500 without any refund. The same sofa in Stevenage store for us 4100.
We are not allowed to use this refund in any other Harveys store, we have to purchase our sofas from Stevenage store only. Even if we let 600 pounds go they will not cancel this order.
We asked her to give us her superiors name and phone number. We were told that they can't do that, the only thing she can do ask him to call us.
My husband called customer services and they said the order still hasn't been cancelled, so called Harveys Stevenage once again, and store manager said, wait until he has called us as nothing can be done if the order was cancelled and we would loose all 600 pounds, which we have already lost anyway.

Three days on we are still waiting for him to call us, as they would not part with his telephone number. Just don't know what to do now. They will not cancel the order, nor the her boss has called us back. Nor any credit has been given. Reviews for the sofa we ordered has already been taken off the website.

Any advice would be welcome. Just need to get out of this problem.
I had lot of respect for this company, but they are just cheats, once they have got your money they don't want talk to you.

Its weird if we would ordered this online, we could have returned this within seven days after they were delivered and no penalty would have occurred except we would have to pay collection charge.

Please do not buy from Harveys without agreeing cancellation terms. Note they only cancel in first 24 hours. Always place your order online, not in the store, you are better protected. This store doesn't care for customers at all. They sell faulty products, read reviews before placing any orders.

If anyone has any way of solving our problem then please get in touch.

Thanks in advance.

So how many reviews did you read?
How can you say the sofa is faulty if you've never had it delivered!!
  • Twelve reviews, of which four reviews are one star, six three star and two five star. We decided to go back and check. We checked three stores, we see what they meant and why back is loosing shape/and looking damaged. These reviews are correct, there isn't much padding in the back. Two Harveys store we visited, back part was showing signs of wearing out and third one look soft as if give another month and it will loose shape.

Within a year the seat cushions of the sofa and chair I bought from Harveys lost their firmness. Won't buy from them again and definitely won't recommend them.

Are you saying you ordered in a certain colour and they can't do that colour so have told you it needs to be a different colour?

If so, then use this as your reason to cancel.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

The colour was for the company building the display unit, not the sofa supplier...
