Credit Card/identity protection

Can anyone advise me of a good, value for money card protection and identity protection scheme. My bank wants to charge me £70 for the Identity protection and £29 for the CC protection this is an annual payment.
Any advise??

Ask yourself this question. Why is my bank so keen for me to purchase this insurance? Is it really good for me or is it really my bank who will gain?

I forgot to say. No wonder banks make billions of profit every year when they manage to sell so much of this rip-off insurance to their customers ( aka mugs ).

    "Cover" yourself against what ?

Read the Ts & Cs, the most you will be liable for if the card is used fraudulently is £50, many cards it is £00 - you are paying for something that you just don't need.

If someone fraudulently uses your credit card they're not stealing your money, they're stealing the credit card issuer's money. So the issuer is asking you to pay for its own insurance. If you follow reasonable security procedures, you will not be liable either if money is taken from your current account. As long as you keep your credit card statements and/or use online banking you will have ready access to the information needed to phone your providers if a card is stolen. I suggest it's not worth getting.
  • Thanks very much Sax, I had not thought of it like that! . Dont think I will bother now.
    Cheers
