Barclaycard repeated false positive fraud problems

Hiya everyone, Can you please help? Does this happen to anyone else?? Barclaycard have repeatedly failed to respond to Asda and Tesco Home Delivery's genuine requests for payment of my monthly shopping bill. Every 2 - 3 months or so, their fraud system 'falsely' regards my 'monthly' shopping bill as 'suspect' and it refuses Asda/Tesco's penny 'fund confirmation' requests, and blocks my card in the early hours of the morning, without notifying me! So I am unable to correct the situation before Asda cancels my order. Asda 'pings' Barclaycard for confirmation 3 times, without reply. After the 3rd 'ping', Barclaycard regards this request as 'hostile' and blocks my card without notice. Asda are part of wallmart, one of the biggest companies in the world, and I have been with Barclaycard for 20 years! And it's a home delivery. Where's the risk!! Am I the only one, or are there others experiencing home delivery problems with Barclaycard? Thank you!

    Use a different card ?
  • Yes, I can see that is the only way out. I just wondered if this was unique to me or common practice, before I look into going to the ombudsman!

    Cheers!

I think I'd ask Barclays to issue you a card with a different number

Tell your suppliers to stop pinging your card! It is an abuse of the system as it is seen as a phishing attempt to verify whether the card details are kosher. If Tesco are not prepared to take your purchase at face value, that is their problem not Barclaycard.

I used to use a one hit card number generator from Orbiscom. It was linked to be real card, but if could only be used once. If it was pinged they got their 1p, but nothing else as the number expired. For those firms that abused the system, I found somewhere else to shop. The card company is protecting you - a Tesco are just looking after themselves.
  • Thanks Duchy. I am so angry with Barclaycard, I would rather go to a new card elsewhere instead.

Thanks Busby. I am told that requesting penny transaction confirmations is a widely used industry paractice. Barclaycard simply don't respond to the first 2 which means Asda has to request a 3rd before giving up, and Barclay card block my card!

    Thanks again

I can see who it would be frustrating, my Barclaycard was recently cloned and they called me very quickly and refunded my £300, so I'm personally a fan of their enthusiastic approach to fraud prevention. Two sides to every story :)

Made a small start, now it's time to really tackle this debt!
  • I'm a fan of secure banking too, they also informed me quickly when an American cloned my card and started buying clothes in Bloomingdales. That was good. But when every 2nd or third monthly shop fails, even though it's roughly the same amount, from the same supplier, on the same 'secure coded' credit card, and the supplier is listed as a 'home delivery' company and goods to be delivered to the card holders home address, one wonders what the blue blazes they feed their fraud computers? Rubbish in, Rubbish out, isn't that the saying? LOL
