Photos/Video without her consent

Very sensitive subject but basically after an emotionally abusive relationship, being manipulated and being the subject of mind games it has come to light that a young girl of 19yrs, had been filmed and photgraphed without her consent. She discovered this but was too scared to say anything. The person in question, threatened the girl with the comment that he would ruin her with what he had and would show everyone what a wh**e she is.
The situation has been a horrendous one and anyone who doubts the effect of emotional abuse has never experienced it either directly or indirectly. We all want it over but feel we can't let this person get away with it, so would appreciate others comments on whether they would pursue this?
The Police are involved but nothing's happened yet, no statement etc, but my question is does anyone have any experience of anything like this. Where someone has threatened something like this, how this is seen and/or dealt with by the law.

Okay, if he's actually making threats to share this content then he's breaking quite a few laws. If you have texts/emails/tweets etc. where he's made this threat then he's in breach of the Malicious Communications Act. He's also in breach of the Malicious Communications Act if he knowingly transmits these images to people who are acquainted with the girl in question for the purposes of causing harm to the girl.
He's also arguably in breach of the Protection from Harassment Act and technically (though the slapdash way the act is worded is complicated) the Computer Misuse Act.
Involving the police was the correct move; collate all the evidence you can that he's made these threats and keep passing it to the police. They should warn him of the dangers of carrying out his threats.
Unfortunately, I should add that legally it's a bit of a murky area if he uploads the images to adult websites without specifically attracting the attention of personal acquaintances. There's a campaign to change the law to regard it as a sexual offence but that will take some time to go through, no doubt. As it stands, you either have to pursue a civil suit, or be able to prove that there was criminal malicious intent behind the action.0 -
Are these images of a "private encounter" nature or where they filmed in public.
If they are what you appear to suggest, a private experience the charge of voyeurism is likely to be laid by the police and a spell inside is almost guaranteed as is signing the sex offenders register for a number of years on release.Be happy...;)0 -
