Santander Credit Scoring

Hi,

I'm coming to the end of my 0% purchase deal with MBNA which I have been stoozing with.

I'm looking for a new 0% purchase card to restart the stooze and I quite like the look of the Santander 123 card as I already use their 123 current account.

My question is, does anyone have any insight as to Santander's credit scoring preferences? Would it be better to pay off the MBNA card before applying for the Santander card? Would it be better to close the MBNA card completely? I have a high credit limit on the MBNA card (>£18,000) and a good rating at the agencies. I'm looking to maximise the credit limit Santander would give me.

I don't really use any other cards, although I have a Halifax Clarity that I keep just for foreign travel that I could use if I needed to wait a month or so after closing the MBNA card.

Comments

  • I have 2 active credit cards and was accepted for a Santander123 CC. I was'nt an existing customer. Don't foresee any problems for you.
