Does reclaiming PPI restart the clock w/r to statute barring

Options
Many years ago my husband got into a bit of trouble with money and started an IVA, the IVA failed and he started to pay off his biggest creditors through private arrangements, there were still some outstanding debts, mainly credit cards. I believe these debts would now be statute barred, however in 2010 my husband attempted to reclaim PPI from at least one of those credit cards (intending to use any payout to partially settle the debt). He was not successful with his reclaim because I think the account was too old and they wanted evidence of all payments made etc which he didn't have. Is this credit card debt statute barred or has the time been reset?

It's still statute barred but if he was successful with any complaint, they could use all of it against any arrears etc anyway.

He was not successful at the time as they said the account was too old but I don't think they will have been statute barred at that time.
