  • Or perhaps they concentrate on sellers who have more than one copy...

Has the linked article been taken down?

I'm getting an error from the 'bit' site saying they can't find the page.

it was a lower case o not a 0, it looks like. Article is there. My apologies, Azari.

And yes, PlutoinCapricorn, they do just "not deliver" if the item has gone, according to that page. No excuses or taking a hit of course... well, they wouldn't, would they...

Steve, it's called 'drop-shipping'. It has been going on for years.
Company 'A' has an item for sale at £2.00
Company 'B' lists same item at £2.50 on another site.
Buyer purchases item from 'B', who then buys it from 'A' with the instructions to deliver it to the buyer.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

  • Surely drop shipping is similar to affiliate marketing in that both sellers agree on the arrangement?

I take your point about that, but this was a CON because Company "B" (who would indeed buy it from A) described the item very differently, in order to entice me to buy what I thought was a better quality item at only a slightly higher price.

Because they did indeed "drop ship" and the item when it arrived was marked exactly as "A" described I was able to prove that the advertising by B was false. Representing the same item in two ways and making a profit.

That's what I object to, not the fact someone sold me something at a higher price, but that the description was deliberately dishonest and the price pitched just enough to fool me. If they'd been honest, the description would have been the same and I'd have bought from A, quite happily.
  • And seller 'A' was not happy with what had happened.
