Log cabin in garden

Hi,
Looking to purchase/build a structure in garden which will give a one-bed room with toilet/shower facilities. We have a small house and too many people living in it and no possiblity of anyone moving out soon. Any ideas/pitfalls. We only have about £10K. It would have to be insulated and able to be heated. Am I being unrealistic?

Just seen this on b&q. Would probably need planning permission.

In all seriousness, legally I see no reason why one couldn't - as long as you meet any and all planning permission and building regs, and it doesn't constitute 'primary living accommodation' - and practically, if it's comfortable and you're happy with it, then why not?0 -
Hi, we have been looking at this type of thing too. Google "garden offices" there are loads of companies selling these type of rooms which can be used as living space. You would need building regs approval and possibly planning permission if it was for sleeping in. Good luck0

Here is one, just been emailed to me from Costco.
Not bad for the initial £25 sign up fee. it is double glazed too !

We have a Norwegian log cabin in the garden. They are warm and comfortable. We have 2 single beds in there for overspill use, but usually it's just us at weekends or summer nights when we fancy 'camping out.'
If you get one big enough, I see no reason why someone couldn't use it for sleeping/showering etc. Many countries have log cabins as housing, so it's perferctly possible to live in one. Just make sure that you have a proper shingle roof (the ones guaranteed for 40 years).0
