Mortgage Matters Direct

http://www.mortgagemattersdirect.co.uk/

daughters got a meeting with an "advisor" next week to which I am going as well

its an estate agents pet mortgage company so looking for feedback

they want a £250 arrangement fee anyway which I am not happy about and as far as I can work out will only offer Legal and General products ??

they also "hint" that it will put you at a disadvantage when buying property via Ward and Partners , wonder if they can legally do that ??

They cannot legally do that, but they will do it anyway.

If you feel you are getting a poorer service due to not using the EAs associated services you need to complain and report it.

Sadly this is widespread and no one seems to actually want to do anything about it

There is nothing wrong with a broker charging a fee - whether your happy about it or not it is not uncommon.

That to one side, Estate agents can not do that. There is the Estate agents act 19?? (possibly 79). They have to put all offers to the vendor, they can not insinuate you are any worse than another applicant who is using their broker unless they genuinely believe and can prove that is the case.

That being said, it does happen. Personally i would just report them,if enough people do it, it may get looked into.

Hi, I would be interested to know the outcome of the initial thread if at all possible. I am currently in the same situation with this broker. We have put an offer in on a house that we were told was looking good until I said I would not be using their mortgage service or solicitors. Now they have advised the seller to hold off until I have had a meeting with their mortgage guy so he can assess whether we are a good buyer or not. We are first time buyers with a decision in principle and I work for a mortgage company as a case manager...I fail to see how we are not good buyers or the need for this assessment!

    Many thanks
