Hi
To cut a long story short: I've been signed off work for about a month and a half now. Whilst I've been signed off I've also been made redundant. My last day of employment is this coming Friday.
I've just been signed off for another month so I called job centre to make a future claim (starting Saturday). I called them and made the claim over the phone around 9 this morning. Just after 12, I received a text from DWP stating:
"Your employment support allowance has been awarded. We will confirm this by letter".
Does this mean the claim has gone through already? And I will definitely get this benefit?
I'm really surprised as I spoke to my HR manager yesterday and she told me it takes around six months for this to go through.

It takes often about 6 months (though it should be 3) for the claim to proceed to the 'main group' stage.
It stays in 'assessment' typically for a little under 13 weeks, you are assessed around the 13th week, and then placed in either the support or work-related groups. (or found fit.).
This '13th week' however has recently been slipping dramatically, with some claimants remaining on the assessment phase for a year.
The initial placement in the assessment phase requires almost no decisionmaking from the DWP - and is about the most rapid part of the process apart from them stopping payment if you're found fit.0 -

Oh ok so they've agreed to paying the £70 something for now? Until my case is assessed and if agreed, I'll then get the £106?0 -
the £106 is the support group rate. WRAG is just over £1000
