If it's Cat A or Cat B, then it's not _illegal_, but the ABI agreements mean nobody "in the business" should sell it to you. You'd probably have a job finding anybody to insure it in the future, too.maybe you'll have to make it absolutely clear to them that you are not intending to do so but wnat to sell some parts of it yourself?
Wouldn't make a difference. Under those agreements, Cat B write-offs can be broken for parts, but only by authorised salvage dealers.0 -
Thanks for all your replys.......been that busy with it ive not had time to look/reply
Few points.....
The wheels were factory standard 18" but quite saught after due to the model of the car hence my Q
As some have said, have since found out it can be done but depends on the category.
Have no idea how i would have got the car moved etc my father in law is a mechanic so would have sorted something.
Did use Glass's for a valuation & got only a couple hundred short of that value so was happy to accept the offer.
To conclude the story.....car written off yesterday with an estimated repair bill of £11,500
It was classed as a Cat C so i could have bought the car back. However, the insurance co charge 2% of the settlement so it wouldnt have been worth it due to my est value on the wheels & then having to get it scrapped myself.
Thanks for your replys.....all great info
