macbook pro - possible to get a deal?!

Anyone know if it's possible to get a deal on a mbp these days?
I've changed jobs and now working on macs all the time, since it's been about 12-13 years since I've properly used one day to day, I am thinking of buying a 13 inch mbp so that I can learn/use the software I need for work a bit better and also get used to the os again...
problem is, I'm a tight ******* and grudge paying the full retail on anything! but seems to be very few deals on the macbooks
I did wonder about buying one and adding RAM (or any other upgrades) but it seems the last couple of generations have ram soldered to the board and are a pain to work on, anyone have experience of this?

Apple's reburbished stock is about the best deal you are likely to get on a "as new" MBP. If you get the non-retina model, it's still possible to perform upgrades, with the retina models forget it.0

The only deal you can get is if you happen to know any students, especially university students.0

Not sure this will work for you but I bought mine in store a few weeks ago and got a business discount. The staff were very helpful and gave me 6% off of the machine and 10% of off the Apple care and accessories.
Friends told me they got 5% off just by asking.
As always it helps if you take interest in the product (the staff are usually very passionate about that) and they will try to help you out.
They also price match but they do not price match online deals.
Hope this helps!0 -
Ebay is an obvious source of "cheaper" MBPs. Know anyone going overseas - Singapore are as cheap as they come? AppleCare for £170 (make an offer). That's where I got mine and had no problem

true, but I've been stung a couple of times buying electronics from ebay and a mbp seems like too big an investment for me to mess up with a dodgy one...
did get my hp guarantee from ebay right enough.
got a few models priced up by the guy that supplied my office and he's pretty reasonable...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
