Hello
My husband was made redundant in January and we are in the process of applying for tax credits. The form is asking for income for 2012-13 but if we put in these earnings then we won't qualify. Do I need to wait for the claim to be rejected before I tell them of our change if circumstance or can I send a letter with my form telling them of our drop in earnings?any help us appreciated!
Thanks

Is your husband looking for another job. You take the risk if you ask them to assess on your current income that when he gets a new job you will have been overpaid and need to pay it back0

Yes, but the tax credits are needed to boost the income now - so they should be based upon current income, rather than last year's (if last year's was considerably higher).0
