Has anyone managed to successfully get a default removed from their credit file?

I have 3 defaults on my credit file, 2 which are now satisfied and one which I will have paid in full in the next few months.

One was for £50, and the other 2 were around £200/£300.

These had arisen as a result of personal issues/moving home/job change, and as much as I should not have let it get to that stage, I am trying my best to get myself out of a bad situation.

I had also been stuck in a rut using payday loans, however have managed to get out of the cycle, and have had a wage increase which has also helped.

Having settled 2 out of the 3 of these defaults, whilst I am not too bothered about other lenders seeing these (I do not foresee applying for further credit) I fear it could affect my job, as I work in retail banking.

I have taken steps to try and improve my credit rating, however my score is very poor at around 462, and partly due to these defaults.

I have read of people writing to lenders and asking for defaults to be removed, however I realise it may not be this easy, but wondered if anyone could advise on what might be the best approach (if any) to take?

I know this isn't what you want to read but I'd say forget about it. Lenders will just respond with a canned reply such as that they've reported a true history of the account and it wouldn't be right to report anything else.

Very unlikely they would agree to remove them.

That said if they haven't caused you employment issues so far, and you mention you have changed jobs, then I would think they would be less likely to cause an issue once the defaults are settled.
