A window that's never opened may well be the cause of condensation and damp, especially if it's single glazed or poorly double-glazed.

The house I have just sold had a bathroom with no window - never had any issue with mould. I agree that it will be important to ensure that the extractor fan works and come on automatically when the light is turned on, to ensure that it is used (I think this may be automatic on most newer properties)

I had exactly the same issue a couple of months ago.

I wanted to buy a property in Nottingham and I was worried about the internal bathroom since it was a pretty old house.

I asked a contractor friend of mine about it, and he directed me to a company that offers ventilation solutions for homeowners. Once I contacted them they offered a free survey of the property to make sure that it was mould free and well ventilated.

As it turned out no issues where found but an improvement with the ventilation could be done.

I would give you their info but I am at work currently and dont have access to my bookmarks.

If I am not mistaken though they are called envirovent. You could look them up.

    Hope that helps.
