Cheapest/Best way to send a DVD Player in post?

I listed a used DVD player recently & to my amazement, it went for £50.
I dont sell on ebay, and occasionally when I have its only small, non-valuable items.
I'll securely package it etc.
So what is the safest (& cheapest
)way to send the item? It weighs about 1.5-2kg
I saw on here a thread about a firm called MyHermes but note they dont provide cover for Electrical items (in fact their get out clauses covered them for covering virtually nothing!!!)
Thanks

I've sent a DVD player with Collect+ before. Got there OK.
If you don't like that, take a look on https://www.interparcel.com , they have a good value UPS service where you drop it at a local shop and it gets delivered to the buyers door.0 -
I think they mostly don't cover you. Check the exact weights and have a look round. If it's under 1.5kg you have more options, if it's over 2kg you have less.the_tired_one wrote: »

I've sent DVD, CD and VHS players via Royal Mail standard parcel services without any issues.
Pack in maker's box, secure loose bits like remote and mains lead so's they don't move. Wrap box in heavy-duty rubble sack (from B&Q or other DIY shed), secure with brown vinyl wrapping tape.0 -
Googler, Standard Parcels doesn't exist anymore.0

If I thought it did, I would have capitalised it the way you have. But I didn't.
I'm referring to their standard parcel service, not a service called Standard Parcels, although, as luck would have it, when I last sent one of these parcels out, the service was called Standard Parcels.0 -
I just used collect plus to send a bluray player as that was the cheapest option with the right insurance plus its not on their restricted items list. I only posted yesterday so can't let you know the outcome, but I've been happy with their service on several occasions. Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!

I went with Collect+ & got a 20% discount for being a new customer - sent 2 items. Wish I knew about it yesterday as I sent another electrical item with MyHermes but obviously no insurance.0
