Toilet cistern Dripping

I can hear water dripping but I can't see it.
Any ideas please? I have a photo but not aloud to show it. My toilet has a long flush and a short flush. Is is a Fluidmaster 400 Model.

Is it leaking, or just condensation dripping off it?
Assuming you have removed the lid, why can't you see where it's dripping?

I took the lid off and i can hear dripping, but I just can't see where it is coming from. It is dripping faster than a second. I have listened all around the toilet and it is coming from inside the cistern.

I got a torch and looked straight down the red tube and there is water moving down there, looks like the red thing has a leak.

OK. I found the problem. I took the red thing out and it has a rubber seal on the bottom of it. There is an air bubble making the seal not do it's job. Water has been dripping down the toilet for over a year. Still can't show photos.

With all due respect, may I suggest you get a plumber to look at it. You have probably got a small amount of dirt in the valve and it isn't closing properly. You need to turn off the water and clean the valve, but if you don't know what you're doing then please get a plumber in.

There was water bubbles in the seal. I popped these, so the seal would work again. I have filled the toilet and looked down the red tube and there is no movement, so no leak so job done.

The same thing happened recently with our toilet, and was caused by the rubber seal developing air bubbles. My husband ordered a new seal on the internet and fixed it himself and the dripping noise stopped. I'm guessing that the air bubbles are a sign of wear and tear so you'll probably need to replace the seal at some stage.

Sounds like the sealing ring has blistered. Common fault with some cisterns even premium stuff from Geberit
