I agree about the face to face bit. Can you not set up an appointment in Essex and pop up there for the day, have a look at some properties and meet the broker at the same time?

I think that is exactly what I will be looking at doing, I am going to wait until the Summer when I can get some lengthy time off, in the interim hopefully my Credit report can improve by using/paying Credit on a regular basis.

Yes, thats exactly right. Only thing I would say tho, is that house prices are rising, especially in the SE and I wouldn't wait too long as you may have to pay more. I also think it might be worthwhile ringing a broker in Essex and just having a chat with him on the phone first.
