Statutory Maternity Pay

Really didnt know where to place this so please move it if necessary :)

I’m due to go off on maternity leave in July, I have just had a sudden moment of panic. Through work I get 8 weeks full pay, then 18 weeks half pay + any SMP. I am just reading through the SMP details and it says if I don’t reach the lower earning limit I cant have it! I am part time so earn £9631 all together (which would reach the lower earnings limit)!, but I have just received my P60 from last year (most of it was spent on maternity leave – yep again!) and I only earnt £4000 so I think that wouldn’t reach the lower limit! Does it go on my earnings normally or does it go on last year? I don’t claim any benefits and I just don’t understand or know who to talk to about any of this.. I’m so clueless! Any help would be appreciated xx

nice that you get your full pay/half pay for the 26 weeks!

I think if you are not eligible for SMP there is something called maternity allowance - so you could look up if you are eligible for this.

Wow thank you! That helped a bunch, went through it all and found out I could get it… then my colleague decided to inform me my p60 was only from September because we went over to a social enterprise ooooops, so I would of met it anyway! But thank you so so much x
