Painting my shower tray

I have made such a mess of my shower tray that I am having to paint it.
I have now removed the sealant from around the edges of the tray and am ready to sand it with wet and dry.
I have bought this stuff http://www.tubbyuk.com/shower_basin_resurfacing_kits.htm
Clearly not cheap so I want to make sure I do it properly.
Would it be best, after sanding it of course to
A. Paint the tray first and then put new sealant around the edges of the shower tray and tile or
B. Put the new sealant around the edges and then paint.
Because this is so expensive I do not want to make a mess of it and then have to do it again.
I guess most of the work is in the prep, which I am going to take my time over, but any other hints or tips would be greatly appreciated as well as which comes first, sealant or paint.
Many thanks

Paint then seal on top of it.
Why not change the tray?

I think in the long run it may have to be replaced, most folks painting baths, showers and tiles etc, go that way eventually:money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

This was what I would have preferred but both of the plumbers have told me that the floor would probably have to come up and the ceiling downstairs would have to come down as there is no access from the bathroom to tighten the wastes etc.
I know it is only temporary but I really cannot be bothered with this at the moment.0 -

The current waste must have got in there somehow!
Making a hole downstairs and patching it wouldn't be the end of the world, but raising the level of the floor with some batons for the new shower tray is another option.
The idea of painting a shower tray makes me shudder. You're only putting off the inevitable and living with something that looks awful in the meantime. Do the job once and do it properly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Ruski, off course you are right and so am I, we have the same opinions, you as a trade and me as a DIYer, but given what the OP now says, you have to accept that what is in effect a "bodge", may just at this time be the only option for her.
All provided she accepts this which from all our comments, I'm sure she will.;)

Get a pro in to do it , there are plenty that say refinishing is not as good as new but IMO nothing you buy now is perfect from the manufactor!! As a bathroom fitter for the last 12yrs we have marked several baths and trays , some customer damaged and some manufacturing faults, refinishing is a new trade and requires a keen eye for detail and perfect preparation

Funny, but our installer managed to install a shower tray on the floor, not on a raised platform, and managed to run all pipe work and tighten waste fittings without disturbing the ceiling below, and without lifting the whole floor ....
I suggest you find some better plumbers. Look for one or more that specialise in installations, not maintenance and fixes.....0
