I'd go for either side of the aisle near the back right downstairs. But that's only because I like to increase my chances of one of us having an empty seat next to us.

I've only flown emirates on the A380 but unlike everyone else I wasn't overly impressed. There wasn't anything wrong with it, it was just a plane where you're stuck in a seat for several hours. If I'd been in First it'd have been different but to me it wasn't even the best economy seat I've flown in.

The only disadvantage we found on the upper deck was the view out of the window wasn't as good, since it's facing slightly up due to the curvature. But this also creates room for a useful storage compartment under the window.

    I absolutely LOVED the A380,..........
Loved the seats, actually managed to sleep for the first time ever, I don't normally get excited about an aircraft, seeing it only as a means to an end but I was thrilled when I realised our flight back from Dubai in June is one one :D

I don't usually manage to sleep on planes either :(
Unfortunately, flight home is 777, but definitely worth knowing for future trips :)

The curvature of the wall can be slightly different on both the lower and upper deck depending on which row you are in, if you are towards the back of the plane then it's more apparent.

One of the reasons we're paying extra to request specific seats is because we don't want to be right at the back of the plane. Have ended up there our last few flights and find it much bumpier :(

We've booked row 72, according to the seat plan they're just behind the wing.

The only time I've flown on an A380 was on a brand new Emirates one in economy from Dubai to London. I was very near the front at the lower desk, right in the "pointy bit" near the staircase and the toilets. I was really impressed. Much quieter than a 777 or 747, good seats and I even had an empty one next to me.

I'm currently thinking about treating myself to BA WTP on the A380 to Hong Kong in the autumn, though maybe using avios to upgrade to Club on one the the legs.

With the exception of a few rows which are over the wing, pretty much all WT seating is behind the wing.http://www.britishairways.com/travel/worldt/public/en_gb
The "pointy bit" up front is First on the lower deck http://www.britishairways.com/travel/seatfirst/public/en_gb
and CW on the upper http://www.britishairways.com/travel/seatfirst/public/en_gb

Sounds good! There never seems to be any availability when I want to try and use my Avios :( but we are pretty restricted on dates ATM.

From what I've read the first row (50) of CW on the upper deck is missing a window and one to avoid.

That's on BA. Emirates have fitted out their A380s so that downstairs is all economy with Business and First upstairs with a bar.

Yes, I realise that:), I was just pointing out BA's seating plan doesn't give us the option to sit forward of the wing in economy/WT :(
