Courtesy Car - Parking Eye Fine - Advise required please

Hello,

Firstly I have read the Newbies thread but I'm unsure how it applies to courtesy cars.

I received a courtesy car when my company car went into the garage and this is the vehicle that is mentioned on the ticket. They have my name and address so I guess the garage passed these details onto them. The ticket is from a car park that I use daily and it was sent through the post, ie. there was no windscreen ticket.

How do I appeal this, ie. what process should I follow?

The letter has me down as a 'Miss' instead of 'Mr' - I don't know if this is useful in anyway??

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Can you just clarify this for me, your company car is the one mentioned, but the ticket was for the courtesy car??

  • Sorry I was not very clear. The charge on the ticket relates to the courtesy car given to me by the garage.

Just so I understand, you received a ticket through the post for a car you had as a courtesy car, there was no notice on the windscreen?

If that is the case then use the appeal in the Newbies sticky thread, but you're going to have to adapt it to say 'driver'. You appeal to ParkingEye and then to POPLA.

Okay appeal the ticket using the wording in coupon mads sticky thread, you'll find it post #1, just change registered keeper to keeper only. When they reject the appeal you can go to popla the second stage appeal. When you send the appeal get a free proof of postage from the post office. But appeal online also.

  • Thank you for your help, I shall keep you updated with the progress
  • I have an update and not sure what to do.

They sent me another "invoice" dated 10th April but on this one they have updated my name and address to bring it in line with the format on my appeal letter - however they do not mention the appeal letter at all.

I have not heard from them in the 10 days since I emailed and posted the appeal other than this letter which I received yesterday.

    Should I resend the appeal?

Thank you for your help everyone!

So they updated Miss to Mr and sent you another letter right? They can't then deny they haven't received your letter of appeal. They have 35 days to respond to your appeal.

Is the second letter just a copy of the first with the details updated or is it a chase letter?

If the latter I would complain to the BPA as it is a breach of the COP

  • Hello,

On the letter they have removed my company name from the top of the letter (above my name) and taken away the miss, so it now reads "firstname surname" instead of "Miss firstname surname".

I don't believe it to be a chase letter and more a letter with updated details.

On this letter they make no reference to my appeal and have changed the "payment due" date to start of May - with of course a discount if I pay early!

So on the basis of this information would you agree that they must have received my appeal and that updating of the details if proof enough they have received it? And if so I should wait to hear back from them regarding my appeal?

Well you could send them another copy of the appeal, with a thank you for updating your details, and if you put it as a copy of previous correspondence then they have it twice. But they can't deny that the original appeal has been received as they have updated the address details.
