Checking websites to see if you have won

If you win a competition, the company would usually notify you via phone, email or post. But aren't there a few that don't bother and just expect you to check their website with the list of competition winners?

Is there a list of companies that do this, so then i know which ones to add to the Google Calendar which would notify me to visit the website on the set date (say 5 days after the competition ends?)

Set up a Google alert email, the how to is somewhere.

Then whenever your name and 'winner, 'won', 'congratulations' appears on Google they send you email with link.

Ah fantastic! So would you just enter your name along with the those three key words in the box and Create Alert, or do each one individually?

Hmmm from memory

Google home page
Click on more a drop down menu appears
Click on even more a new page appears
Scroll down to a little bell, says alerts
Click inn that and set perameters for search.


Can be just your name, my name really uncommon so I don't get many emails. If your name famous or really common add 'winner' 'won' and whatever else

And cos I have a rare name I don't know whether to add all winner win won blah in one search
It takes seconds though so maybe separate .

Go to Google.com home page where there is Google written large and search box underneath.

Up on the left top side says search, images,more.
Click more.

A drop down menu with
Maps
Play
YouTube
News
Gmail etc etc
Right at the bottom is even more. Click on even more

A new page opens with headings like
Web
Mobile
Business
Media
Geo
Specialised search

In specialized search is a bit called alerts, it has a picture of a bell.
Click on alerts and populate search terms. Add your email address and its done.

I think it looks different if you're logged into google.

I found it from the 3x3 dots - clicking on the dots gives 'more' at the bottom of the list, then 'even more' which give the long list including alerts.

Not sure if this will work but the URL is http://www.google.co.uk/alerts?hl=en-GB

Oh am so sorry I never thought about being logged in.
Feel foolish now I spent ages trying to recreate the dots thing

Doesn't work for me, sadly. I share my name with a very successful rugby player - so unfortunately whenever I search for my name & 'won', 'win', 'winner' or even 'competition' it regales me with all his recent team or international exploits!
