I see they have done a fee grab today. I had money on my account to cover any fees but they decided to sell shares without notice (first i heard was an email saying they sold some shares) and they had the cheek to charge a commision on the sale of shares. I was due them less than £10. I have been £120+ in fees before where they sent me an email asking for funds to be paid before they would sell any shares. at which point i added cash and paid fees in full. Their new policy looks to be to get fees at any cost and shares commision on top.
Im not the only one. I would check your own accounts.

i got nothing. i was in my account the other day and setup a recommended cash on account. it was over what the current fees were.
first and only email i got was that the shares had been sold.
its not the amount its that they didnt even bother to contact me via email / phone / text.
they have been paid £22 for a £10 fee which had cash on account ready to pay. nice business if you can get it.0 -
Hi,
nothing taken from me today, though I'm in process of switching, and after an official complaint letter they said there would be no charges made during transfer, so maybe that's why.
Funnily, I logged in to my account last night and 'found' a secure message ( no email alert), advising me to top up my MCB,
Old PEP, which I had merged with ISA, and has zero balance, MCB £5,
ISA with £75 Loyalty, no cash, MCB £5,
S&S Fund, with no cash, which as I understand it has no charge for holding shares, MCB £5.
So was expecting some sort of charge today, though I'm sure I read somewhere that they would use loyalty money before selling, so that's why I didn't add money.0 -

Did you contact HL and query why they sold shares to cover fees when you already had cash available?0 -
still waiting on a reply. been 11 hours.
i too saw the secure message by chance (no email sent for that either) but i had already setup cash in the account for fees.

I have my usual buys under transactions pending, plus one that is classed as 'realised'.
I am guessing that is them selling some of my holding?0 -

Yep, that's HL selling your shares to cover fees. If you click on "Transaction History" you should see something along the lines of: Fee Sale
You'll have a contract note on the right for the sale which includes a £1.50 fee0
